Dear friends and colleagues,

Due to the unprecedented global crisis, the Committee of the Seventh International Conference on Mycobacterium bovis have taken the hard decision to postpone M. bovis 2020 until 2021. This decision was taken following recent updates on the COVID-19 situation in Ireland and a review of the international situation.

The health and safety of speakers, delegates, organisers, sponsors, service providers and the general public is of paramount importance to us. We also acknowledge the difficulty for delegates dealing with cancelled or rescheduled flights and any other logistical problems they face.

We would like to thank our plenary speakers, abstract submitters, registrants and sponsors. We believe that we had put together a highly informative and innovative conference programme to benefit policy-makers, scientists and industry stakeholders. Thanks to everyone's efforts we attracted a high number of delegates from a wide range of countries.

We would also like to thank NUI Galway, the Galmont Hotel and Abbey Conference and Events for their understanding, flexibility and willingness to postpone the conference until 2021.

We hope that this decision will provide confidence and reassurance to all those who were planning to visit Galway and hope that you will be in a position to attend the conference next year, tentatively scheduled for early June 2021.

We are now in completely unchartered territory and our plan is to contact you again when this crisis has passed (as it inevitably will) to advise on the arrangements for the rescheduled conference. The conference secretariat (mbovis2020@abbey.ie) will also contact you in due course regarding continued or refunded registration fees / accommodation costs etc."

Thank you for your understanding.

Crann do shláinte leat (The best of health to you)

Eamonn Gormley

(on behalf of the organising committee)

WELCOME

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The Organising Committee of M. bovis 2021, the Seventh International Conference on Mycobacterium bovis, would like to invite you to the beautiful and historic city of Galway on the wild west coast of Ireland from 7-10 June 2021. This is the third M. bovis Conference in Ireland but the first in Galway.

Building on the success of Cardiff 2014, M. bovis 2021 will gather together scientists, policy makers, veterinarians and industry stakeholders from around the world with the aim of identifying constraints and providing practical solutions for the control and eradication of the M. bovis.

The conference will bring together experts on a wide range of M. bovis related themes including: the science/policy interface, epidemiology, surveillance, diagnostics, wildlife reservoirs, social science & economics, vaccination, practical delivery, and innovation for TB control and eradication.

Experience nature along the magnificent Wild Atlantic Way which stretches over 2,500 km of rugged coastline with spectacular scenery from County Donegal to the north and County Cork to the south. Staying in Galway, why not immerse yourself in the spectacular beauty  and traditional Irish culture of Connemara.

We look forward to extending a céad míle fáilte (a hundred thousand welcomes) to you all.

Dr. Margaret Good

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee

The Scientific and Organising Committees of 2021 seek to hold a conference which includes a diverse range of speakers from countries where different types & stages of TB control/eradication programmes are in operation.
